So, my question was, who takes care of the keep? How does it stay running, especially since magi are known to travel. Someone better be cleaning those linens. And I refuse magic as a response to everything. The water may run by magic, the light by magic and all sorts of things. But what about the pies, home cooking? That requires love to make a pie. Nothing tastes as good as home cooking, but that is my opinion. Playing around with the idea. This has no real plot yet. It’s a slice of life free write and feel free to criticize. No idea how often I will be able to add to it. Testing the waters, I haven’t written anything for fun before. Loosely based off the Magistream world.
Intro
I remember when my sister and I were brought to the keep. When we were so young and lost, but hopeful. Supposedly we were the ones from our village that had a spark, a chance at becoming a magi. I remember it as if it was yesterday, the day I was found wanting. The day my sister was initiated to become a magi and I was not.
Serena was my bright spark then, my star. I am the oldest, but I don’t look it. Really that extra year did nothing; we look like twins. Not that it mattered.
Back then she insisted that we would not part and so my stay at the keep began. As a caretaker for the beasts left at home when the magi went to travel. As a housekeeper that kept the hearth lit for those coming home. As a listener for those who needed me.
I started at the keep for my sister, Serena the Magi.
But I found my own need to stay.
