Fireworks
I sit upon the cool grass,
my eyes turned towards the heavens,
peering up to see the the sky
as I eagerly await
the coming show of beauty.
A loud shireking sound comes up
and causes and causes everyone to
jump up high and whoop for joy
as the arching lights explode.
The colors flash, then fade fast,
a thing of fleeting beauty,
yet forever printed in
my mind, eternal in my small heart.
The show goes on and on for
what seems an eternity.
But eventually, it ends,
leaving me feeling empty.
But I know in my mind that
soon there will be something else,
when the fireworks fly in
the coming year, I'll want more.
