Now, if only someone would just come up with a sure-fire way to bribe the artists

Well everything is already technically a monotreme :P look up bandicoots. Adorable
Actually Monotremata is a particular order that branched off from an earlier mammal group and retained several of its ancestral characteristics; other mammals aren't descended from monotremes, in the taxonomical sense, and so can't be considered monotremes themselves. The common ancestor between monotreme subgroups, marsupials, and placental mammals did probably have monotreme characters, but was not a monotreme itself.

That said, I'd like to see some wombats.

We do look for ideas for events and celebrations beyond what's on most (North American/European) calendars and if anyone wants to suggest an idea or something we'd love to hear about it.

This particular event isn't tied to any holiday, though. In fact, it's part of the map release that started last year.
Chinese New Year :woo: February 20-ish?

Chinese New Year... It's not the dragons. It's the firecrackers, the lion dances, the angpows (red packets with money or chocolates) and the goodies which can last till June or beyond, with the sheer volume. I'm always a bit heavier.

In the Chinese zodiac, we're entering the year of the goat then, right? And leaving the year of the horse. So maybe we could also do something with those animals?

Or fortune cookies.
Fortune cookies that open to give us a critter. :D

ETA - Or critters that sort of look like fortune cookies. "The bakers in the Keep were quite startled when their pastry suddenly started moving around, chittering amongst themselves..."

"This tiny egg resembles a fortune cookie, with a little paper slip."

Or other traditional foods...
"This pungent, vinegary egg appears to be at least a thousand years old. You're not sure how it could hatch into anything at this point..."
