  • Legends
  • There are no legends of Riparian Forest.
The stream flows from the cold waters of Arkene, past Synara and then to the Keep, where it empties into Lake Lakira and eventually to the sea. There are twists and turns in the stream where other smaller waters joins with it and where they follow the gradients and contours of the land. If one follows the stream west, upriver toward the mountains, they will find the Riparian Forest.

The Riparian Forest is a mix of mountains, forests, and the waters running to join the stream, and flush with magic that is still being studied. The waters are clear and cold, and the trees that grow alongside provide shade for visitors. The forest of enormous trees that can be found nearby is dense, and just past it the mountain range stretches into the sky.

Eggs that drift along the waters this far to the west are rare, and a magi who searches among the waters of the tributary here will often find eggs from species that are hard to find in the wild, or even may find eggs from species once thought to no longer be found in the wild at all. Some magi claim that void magic suffuses the waters, keeping eggs suspended in time until a magi can find and nurture them. As the Riparian Forest reflects the change in seasons, the waters nearby will flow with different eggs.

The forest, too, holds its own mysteries. Only a short walk from the stream, it seems to draw in magic of all elements. The forest changes drastically with each season, with vibrant colors in autumn, enormous snowdrifts in winter, a riot of flowers in spring, and fiery heat and dense dark green vegetation in summer. Any magi who explores it will soon find themselves exhausted, their own magic used to feed the forest, and those who choose to go inside must do so with caution.

Whether a magi chooses to explore the forest, climb the mountain, or simply visit the waters of the tributary, there is always something to be found. Many older magi like to gather here, relaxing while the water flows past and exchanging stories of years gone by.
